Troubleshooting - ideas not saving or disappearing
GroupMap shows your idea as soon as you add it, then saves it in the background. If the save fails, the idea is removed from the map. This usually happens when your internet connection drops.
You may see one of these messages:
- A red banner at the top of the map: Disconnected from server. Please check your internet connection.
- A message in the bottom right: Synchronization Failed

To fix ideas not saving
-
Check your internet connection.
-
Reload the page.
- Add again any ideas that disappeared.
TIP: If your connection is unreliable, copy longer ideas before you submit them, so you can paste them again if they are not saved.
If two people edit the same idea at the same time, one person's changes may replace the other's. Agree who edits shared ideas, or add a comment instead.
Very long ideas are cut off at 10,000 characters. See Text box character limits.
If you cannot add ideas at all
If there is no box to add an idea, adding ideas may be turned off for you. Check the message at the top of the map:
- This map was locked: the Facilitator has locked the map. See Lock a map.
- This step is currently locked for participants: the Facilitator has turned off editing for this step. See Control your map activity.
- You are in view-only mode: you joined as a Viewer. See User roles and permissions.
- You can add no more ideas: you have added the most ideas allowed in this step.
- This map is read-only: the owner's subscription has ended or been canceled.
If you are a participant, ask the Facilitator to change the setting.
